Quote of The Day – QOTD – Aristotle (Picture Quote)

Today’s quote of the day comes from another one of our favorite Quoticians – Aristotle. What makes Aristotle so quotable is the fact that he covered a variety of topics from politics and ethics to physics and even music. His versatility makes him and amazing source of inspirational wisdom. This particular quote deals with personal relationships in a way that is direct and concise but still profound in its message.

Below we examine it in greater detail.

On friendship:

[su_quote]A friend to all is a friend to none. [/su_quote]

Our interpretation: For us this quote is about two major ideas. The first, is to value quality over quantity. The second, and arguably the most important, is to recognize that you can’t be all things to all people. It encourages us to pick a side and not try and play the fence in order to be political.

How it’s relevant: In the social media age, we have a tendency to quantify the value of our relationships based on the number of likes our posts get, followers we have, and our overall popularity on social networks. This quote is about recognizing that a few strong relationships we work hard to nurture will leave us better off than many superficial ones ever could.
